Jonah Mclean

Jonah McLean is a singer/songwriter who never dreamt of being a musician. After living in America and playing serious golf for the better part of 7 years, he quit it all and came back home. His passion for the game he first fell in love with had come to a halt; it was a sudden, yet measured breakup, but he needed it. Often the things we’re so afraid to do in the moment are most rewarding down the road. It’s unlikely he would be playing and creating music had he not taken this initial leap all those years ago.

His path to music was unconventional, and a slow burn. He started playing guitar in local bands just for fun. Yet, he wasn’t even a real guitar player; with just a few chords and scales was the extent of his knowledge, but there was something intriguing about it that he never felt before. Despite his limited ability, the curiosity sparked something in him. This is where he discovered his love for writing original parts and the passion began to take hold. He then started to discover his voice after taking it one step further starting to write his own songs.

After years of frolicking around from band to band, and eventually fronting his own band, he has recently stepped out on his own and decided to go solo. He has teamed up with producer James McKenty (Blue Rodeo, Matthew Barber) to try and create a sound that stands alone.

His first EP titled “You and Me” takes him back to his roots, where his songwriting journey began. Just him, acoustic guitars, light percussion and minimal production. A very raw and real approach. It takes the listener on a journey of opening your heart and following your feelings, pulling you towards something good you can believe in.

Throughout the coming year, he plans to release a total of 9 more songs exploring new themes with full band arrangements.
